What’s Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a form of aesthetic treatment that uses a needle, similar to acupuncture, to perform on the middle layer of skin. The process involves the injection of enzymes, amino acids, vitamins, and other components into the middle layer of skin. The components include vitamins like A, B, C, and E, minerals, hyaluronic acid, and plant extracts. These components, all together, help stimulate collagen production, improve circulation, and provide essential nutrients to the skin.

Mesotherapy is used for both hair and skin and for various purposes, medical and aesthetic. Mesotherapy for face rejuvenation addresses signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines, as well as skin elasticity.

Also, mesotherapy is the best approach for reducing the appearance of cellulite by targeting the fat deposits beneath the skin. The injected substances work to break down fat cells and improve blood flow in the affected area.

Mesotherapy for hair helps with hair restoration because the injected components contain nutrients that promote hair growth and improve the health of hair follicles. The number of sessions required varies based on the specific goals and the individual’s response to the treatment. Multiple sessions are often recommended for optimal results.

Different Types of Mesotherapy

  • Hyaluronic Acid Mesotherapy: Uses hyaluronic acid injections to hydrate and plump the skin.
  • Botox-Like Mesotherapy: Replicates Botox effects by relaxing muscles and smoothing dynamic wrinkles.
  • Collagen Mesotherapy: Stimulates collagen production for improved skin elasticity and reduced wrinkles.
  • Vitamin & Antioxidant Mesotherapy: Enhances skin health and protects against free radical damage with vitamin injections.
  • Hair Mesotherapy: Treats hair loss and stimulates hair growth by delivering nutrients directly to the scalp.
  • Weight Loss & Cellulite Mesotherapy: Reduces fat and cellulite by breaking down fat tissue.
  • Pain Management Mesotherapy: Targets acute and chronic pain associated with various conditions.
  • Skin Rejuvenation Mesotherapy: Targets signs of aging and skin imperfections for improved texture, tone, and radiance.

How does mesotherapy work?

Mesotherapy injections are one of the most popular aesthetic procedures. Before the procedure, the individual’s needs, age, and health condition are assessed to determine which components—such as amino acids, enzymes, hormones, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid—will best address their specific needs. These components help accelerate blood circulation in the treated area, stimulate collagen production, improve skin elasticity, and promote overall skin rejuvenation. However, to achieve optimal results, multiple sessions are often required.

FAQ

In fact, the results of mesotherapy injections are spectacular for 95% of patients.

While mesotherapy is generally considered safe, like other procedures, there are potential side effects to be aware of. These may include

  • Skin swelling
  • Increased skin sensitivity
  • Itching
  • A burning sensation
  • Rashes
  • Bruising at the injection sites

However, these side effects are typically mild and temporary, and they may vary from person to person. Some patients may not experience any side effects at all.

Mesotherapy yields long-lasting results, enduring up to 12 –18 months. However, these results gradually diminish if subsequent treatments are not administered. To maintain the desired outcome and promote sustained skin rejuvenation, most individuals undergo the procedure again after 3–6 months.

The superiority of mesotherapy over microneedling is context-dependent, as both have unique advantages. Mesotherapy excels in delivering nutrients and hydrating the skin, while microneedling stimulates collagen production and is more effective for deeper skin issues.

General recommendations:

  • Age 28-30: One session every three weeks (3-4 procedures)
  • Age 30-40: One session every two weeks (3-4 procedures)
  • Avoid active skin care products like beta hydroxyl acids, alpha hydroxyl acids, retinol (vitamin A), and vitamin C, at least 3 days after the procedure.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after the procedure.
  • Avoid sun exposure, sun (and also sunbeds) Saunas, steam room or heat for 27 hours after the procedure.

Post-mesotherapy, it is recommended to consume a minimum of 64 ounces of water on the day of the procedure and to continue this hydration regimen for one-week post-treatment. Sun exposure should be avoided for 48 hours, and even after this period, ensure you apply sunscreen with SPF 25 or higher if you have to venture into the sun, particularly if bruising is still visible.

The effects of mesotherapy are typically gradual, with results becoming apparent within a few weeks of the initial treatment. While individual responses vary, multiple sessions are often required to achieve the full potential of the treatment, as it is not a quick fix but a progressive approach to skin and hair rejuvenation.

Mesotherapy and Botox offer distinct advantages. Mesotherapy excels in achieving facial firmness and radiance but requires multiple sessions to attain optimal results, which can then be maintained for up to 12-18 months. On the other hand, Botox is particularly effective for addressing wrinkles and other skin concerns, with results typically lasting between 4 and 6 months.

Mesotherapy is a versatile treatment that can be tailored to address skin aging concerns. Depending on the specific ingredients injected, mesotherapy can effectively rejuvenate the skin on the face, neck, décolletage, and hands. These carefully selected components nourish skin cells, improving common signs of aging such as dullness, fatigue, dehydration, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Mesotherapy is a versatile treatment suitable for individuals across a wide age range. Its primary goal is to address age-related aesthetic concerns, such as wrinkles, skin sagging, cellulite, and hair loss. While mesotherapy can benefit anyone experiencing these issues, it is generally not recommended for those under the age of 20, as younger skin typically does not require such intensive interventions.
